Educational and professional background

• Graduated in Medicine with honors at Modena University on July 23, 1965 and passed the state examination for license to practice the medical profession at the same university in March 1966.
• Voluntary assistant at the ENT clinic of Modena University from November 1965 to January 1970. Was granted a training scholarship at the same clinic in February 1968.
• ENT specialization obtained in July 1968, at Bologna University with full success.
• Member of the Medical Association since 1967.
• Since February 1970 medical assistant at the ENT division of the Maggiore Hospital in Bologna.
• In 1971 obtained state certification as ENT assistant.
• Became specialist in stomatology in December 1972 at Modena University.
• In 1972 obtained state certification as maxillofacial surgeon.
• In 1975 became tenured assistant professor at the ENT division of the Maggiore Hospital in Bologna. In the same year became Head Physician of maxillofacial surgery and ENT.
• From 1975 to 1984 was responsible for the ENT service at Budrio-Bologna Hospital.
• Since 1984 works as an independent physician.
• From 1968 up to the present day performed about 15,000 ENT surgeries under general anaesthesia .

Scientific Activity

• Co-rapporteur at the 24th National ENT Conference in 1970, at the 10th World ENT Conference in Venice, at the 6th International ENT Radiology Conference and at the 20th Meeting of the Latin ENT Association.
• Co-rapporteur, with Prof. Luigi Di Bella, of the monograph “Cancer, are we on the right path?”
• Thirty-two papers presented at national and international conferences and published reports.
• Lecturer at the 1978 international course on Rhinology.
• Since 1972 has been a member of the European Rhinologic Society and of the Bologna Medical Association.
• Since 1980 has been an ordinary member of the Italian ENT and Cervico-Facial Surgery Society.
